I have a new-found respect for Cristiano Ronaldo.
I really had thought he'd become a victim of believing his own hype, with all that swanning around Hollywood and for the weeks during Euro 2008 when he was holding court, leaving us all cryptic messages about his undying love for Real Madrid and how it was to be his destiny.
But after that meeting we all wanted to be in two weeks ago, when the Fergie hairdryer blew into town, Cristiano can't tell us enough how he will wear his heart on his red not white sleeve next season, and that all's well that ends well.
Joking apart, if you read his comments deeper, he did admit to his credit he loves Madrid, got a bit carried away, and if anyone is to blame it's him. That makes a refreshing change.
